Facebook users decry a portable pool placed at historical site
Armenian users on Facebook have voiced alert about a scene near Kamurj historical cultural monument in Oshakan village where a portable pool has been placed. The users argue the pool endangers the monument, and point to the active ad campaign run by one of rest houses, inviting visitors for have a rest at the site, while listing the availability of the pool among its advantages.
State service for the protection of historical environment and cultural museum-reservations has reacted to the criticism and promised to address the matter. In a statement released later, the service said it had applied to Aragatsotn governor with a request to dismantle the pool.
To note, the monument in question was built in 1706 in Oshakan village which is well known to historians and pilgrims of the Armenian Apostolic Church as the site of the grave of Mesrop Mashtots, the inventor of the Armenian alphabet.
