Motor vehicle freight volumes dropped by 72.8% in Armenia
The freight volumes have dramatically dropped and totaled to 3,801.2 thousand tons in Armenia from January to April 2019, showing a 61.3% decrease against the same period of the past year.
As the data released by the National Statistical Service (NSS) of Armenia show, the recorded decrease was mainly prompted by the drop in motor vehicle freight volumes. In particular, the volume of automobile freight amounted to 2,256.4 thousand tons in January-April 2019, dropping by 72.8% compared to the indicated period of 2018.
The rail freight volumes comprised 898.4 thousand tons in the indicated period, showing a 2.3% decline against January-April 2018.
According to the NSS statistics, the highway pipeline freight shipping made up 640.8 thousand tons (6.2% growth) and the air freight volumes rose by 7.7% in January-April 2019.
