Ex-president Kocharyan’s office sees political motivations behind the search of the judge office
The office of Armenia’s ex-President Robert Kocharyan’s insists the searches held in the office of Judge Davit Grigoryan who had earlier ruled to free ex-president from pre-trial custody were conducted out of political motivations. In an interview with Russian Ria Novosti news agency, the head of ex-president’s office Viktor Soghomonyan suggested the actions against the judge were no coincidence since he presided over the court hearing of March 1-2 post-electoral violence President Kocharyan along other three former officials are involved as defendants.
To remind, the Investigative Committee confirmed on Wednesday that the searches in the office of Davit Grigoryan came in the scope of a criminal investigation without providing further details.
“The incident obviously raised number of questions since the searches were conducted in the office of the judge who examined the case launched against the former president and who ruled to free Kocharyan after receiving personal guarantees from the current and former presidents of Artsakh,” Soghomonyan said, adding he couldn’t recall any similar activity against a judge over long period.
“The context of the actions by the law enforcement suggests we deal with political motivations. We will see the future developments to make our final conclusion,” the head of ex-president’s office said.
