Constitutional Court turns to Venice Commission, ECHR for opinion over ex-President Kocharyan case
The Constitutional Court of Armenia suspended the proceedings against the former President of the country Robert Kocharyan and turned to Venice Commission and ECHR for opinion.
“Taking into account the appeals of Robert Kocharyan and the court of general jurisdiction of Yerevan on determining the constitutionality of Article 300.1 of the Criminal Code of the country, the Constitutional Court decided to apply to the ECHR and the Venice Commission for a consultative opinion,” the press service at the Court said in a statement on Thursday.
It adds that the proceedings in the Kocharyan case are suspended until an appropriate opinion is received.
