Karasin: Armenians are part of multiethnic Russia
Armenia’s High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs Zareh Sinanyan met on Monday with State Secretary, Deputy Minister of Russia Grigory Karasin during his working visit to Russia. Armenia’s Ambassador to Russia Vardan Toghanyan also attended the meeting, Sinanyan’s office reported.
At the start of the meeting, Karasin said that Russia is a multiethnic country, where various nations live side by side with solidarity, which is very important for Russia. The official stressed Armenians are part of the multiethnic Russia and play a very active role in politics, culture, society and economy.
Sinanyan underlined in his speech that the Armenian community of Russia has great potential, and Armenia will be glad if the Russian Armenians, who are already fully integrated in the Russian society, are able to participate in the development of Russia and at the same time preserve their national identity.
Sinanyan presented the main goals and functions of his office and the main directions of collaboration with the Diaspora, including the Armenian community of Russia.
The top Armenian official said he has had numerous meetings and will visit Russia often since it is home to a large Armenian community.
