Kocharyan present at today’s court hearing
The Yerevan Criminal Court of Appeals is about to start hearings on a prosecutor’s appeal against a lower court’s decision on the property and assets of former Armenian President Robert Kocharyan standing trial for the 2008 post-election events.
Kocharyan, who is remanded in custody, has arrived at the courtroom and is currently talking to one of his lawyers, Hovhannes Khudoyan.
The first court hearing on the matter was adjourned on 19 July amid the absence of the prosecutor who had filed the appeal.
The ex-president’s property was seized and bank accounts were frozen on 30 July 2018, four days after Kocharyan was formally charged with ‘overthrowing’ Armenia’s constitutional order.
On June 7, Judge Anna Danibekyan of the Yerevan General Jurisdiction Court partially satisfied Khudoyan’s appeal, holding that the ex-president’s rights had been violated.
