Armenia's veteran wrestler praises tournament honoring him as 'great incentive' for young athletes
Former Soviet Armenian freestyle wrestler, Olympic silver medalist Stepan Sargsyan praised the international tournament dedicated to him as a 'great incentive' for young wrestlers, the National Olympic Committee's press service reported.
“I’m in a good mood. The 24th tournament is coming to an end and we will start preparing for the 25th jubilee tournament. It will be greater, more interesting and will bring together more teams. I think this tournament inspires our freestyle wrestlers, even watching these bouts is a great incentive for them," he told reporters.
"I had great expectations of Arsen Harutyunyan but his injury after the European Championship impeded him; he didn’t manage to recover and get in shape. I want to stress we pay attention to all young wrestlers.” Sargsyan said.
