Passenger stairs collide with Yerevan-bound plane at Moscow airport
An incident took place while a Yerevan-bound flight was preparing for takeoff at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo airport on Thursday.
The passenger boarding stairs collided with the Nordwind Airlines Boeing 737 aircraft and damaged its coating, RBC reported, citing the press service of the airlines.
Nordwind said the passengers would fly to Yerevan aboard a substitute plane. The flight was delayed for 30 minutes.
This is the second incident involving a Moscow-Yerevan flight over the past week. Eight passengers were injured while evacuating a Boeing 737 aircraft at Sheremetyevo airport after midnight on July 19.
As the Yerevan-bound Nordwind Flight N4477 was preparing for takeoff on the runway, a strange smell was noticed, RFE/RL said, citing the airlines. As the crew informed airport authorities, the pilot taxied the plane off the runway before cutting the engines. The plane never caught on fire, although earlier reports said smoke had filled the cabin.
