Iranian drug smuggler arrested on Armenian border crossing
Officers of the Anti-Smuggling Department of Armenia’s State Revenue Committee have arrested an Iranian citizen who attempted to smuggle narcotic drugs into Armenia.
Agents found a total of 2,665kg of opium-like substance hidden in metallic details after inspecting the Iranian citizen’s luggage at Agarak border crossing. The package was labelled ‘Made in Azerbaijan’, the committee’s press service reported.
The committee’s Investigative Department has launched a criminal case into the incident.
Officers of the Anti-Smuggling Department foiled a similar attempt by an Iranian citizen to smuggle drugs into Canada through a postal package days ago.
