Armenian judge Davit Grigoryan’s powers suspended
Armenia’s Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) has allowed the criminal prosecution of judge Davit Grigoryan.
In a statement on Monday, the oversight body said it has approved the relevant petition from the Prosecutor-General’s Office related to the judge on two episodes.
The SJC said Davit Grigoryan’s powers has been suspended as a result.
Armenia’s deputy attorney general had requested permission to launch criminal proceedings against the judge on three episodes, but one of them was rejected by the council.
The request for prosecution against the judge was reportedly related to an ‘official forgery’ allegedly committed by Grigoryan.
