Analyst: U.S. foreign assistance to Armenia to make up just $6.75 million next year
The United States will allocate just $6.75 million in foreign assistance for initiatives in Armenia in 2020, Armenian analyst Suren Sargsyan said in a Facebook post.
Meanwhile, the analyst says, the foreign assistance in Armenian totaled to $6.4 million in 2019, $6.80 million – in 2018, $26.4 million – in 2017 and $23.10 million – in 2016.
“Of the sum envisaged for 2020, $100,000 will be provided for the education sector, $800,000 –for the economic development, $3.100.000 – for democracy and human rights and $1,500,000 – for peace and security. The rest of the sum will support other sectors,” the analyst said.
Armenia received the largest sum in foreign assistance resources in 2011 – $45.2 million, he said.
“Of course, additional assistance packages are not ruled out, but there is no progress yet,” the analyst said.
