Ukrainian tourist killed after being hit by Batumi-Yerevan train in Georgia
A Ukrainian tourist died on Wednesday after being hit by Batumi-Yerevan train near Chakvi settlement, 17km far from Batumi in Georgia, local sources reported.
The 41-year-old man was taken to hospital in Kobuleti by emergency service where medics confirmed his death. The circumstances of the tragic incident are investigated as Georgia’s ministry of internal affair has launched a probe into violation of traffic rules.
It is noted that the train engineer may face imprisonment of up to 5-7 years if the charges are proved.
