Monument honoring April War hero to be installed in his hometown
A monument paying tribute to Sasha Galstyan and other Armenian soldiers fallen during the 2016 April War will be erected in Metsamor, Sasha’s hometown.
The inauguration of the monument is scheduled to be held on 12 August, at 12am.
Sasha was a student at a medical college and was studying to be a doctor. He was drafted into the army in 2015, receiving the military ranks of a junior sergeant and then sergeant during his 14 months of service.
Sasha and his three fellow soldiers fell heroically while repelling the Azerbaijani attacks on Jebrail (Jrakan). The hero inflicted significant losses to the adversary in a fierce battle lasting for 4-5 hours before being killed by sniper fire.
In 2016, Sasha Galstyan was posthumously honored with the Medals of Combat Service, Courage and Homeland Protection.
