Massive forest fire in Armenia’s Syunik contained
A massive fire in a forest in Syunik Province of Armenia was contained on Monday, at 9:46am, authorities said.
The wildfire raged in the forest near Lehvaz-Vardanidzor highway on Sunday, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reports.
The forest fire has destroyed 12 ha area of plants and fir and juniper trees so far.
The wildfire is not threatening to nearby settlements.
The ministry says a total of 67 rescuers, 30 soldiers from a Meghri military base, 45 police officers, 25 members of the Hayantar SNCO of Syunik, 15 members of the Zangezur Biosphere Complex and 15 members of the Arevik National Park are struggling to put out the fire.
