Electricity generation drops in Armenia
A total of 3 billion 642.8 million kilowatt-hours of electricity were generated in Armenia in the first half of 2019, down by 5.5% from the same period of 2018, Armenia's National Statistical Committee revealed.
According to the latest figures, electricity generation at thermal power plants dropped by 25.9% to 1,089.5 million kilowatt-hours in January-June. Some 15.2 thousand gigajoules of thermal energy were produced in the country in the first half-year, a decrease of 36.7% from 2018.
Meantime, power generation at hydropower plants increased by 8.3% in the reporting period, amounting to 1 billion 341.9 million kilowatt-hours.
In January-June 2019, Armenia’s Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) generated 1 billion 203.5 million kilowatt-hours of electricity, up by 5.5% against the numbers of 2018.
Electricity generation at solar power plants stood at 6.1 million kilowatt-hours in the first six months, securing a 3-fold growth from the same period last year.
