Saint Louis Rapid & Blitz: Aronian, Vachier-Lagrave share lead
Armenian grandmaster Levon Aronian shared the top place with French Maxime Vachier-Lagrave at the Saint Louis Rapid & Blitz Grand Chess Tour.
In the final three rounds of the rapid tournament on Monday, the Armenian chess star defeated Fabiano Caruana, while lost to Richárd Rapport and drew with Yu Yangyi.
Aronian started with a perfect 3/3 on the first day of the Saint Louis Rapid & Blitz. In Day 2 of the tournament, the GM scored two draws and a win.
In total, Aronian collected 13 out of 18 points.
The St. Louis Rapid & Blitz takes place on August 10-14 at the St. Louis Chess Club. After three days of rapid (nine rounds), two days of blitz follow with nine rounds on each day.
