Artsakh slams Azerbaijani propaganda machine’s ‘distortion of reality’
The Artsakh Defense Ministry has strongly condemned the attempts of Azerbaijan to misrepresent the situation surrounding Armenian soldier Arayik Ghazaryan, who ended up in the territory of Azerbaijan in still unclear circumstances on Monday.
In an official statement on Tuesday, the ministry stressed that distortion of reality is a well-known practice of the Azerbaijani propaganda machine.
“The Azerbaijani propaganda machine is spreading on the internet photos of Private Arayik Ghazaryan, who appeared in the Azerbaijani territory on August 12, 2019 in yet unknown circumstances. It is alleged that the serviceman has abandoned his military position due to non-statutory relations, and the minor scratches and scars on Private Ghazaryan’s body are misrepresented as evidences of violence against him.
“Distorting reality and attributing one's own atrocities to the other side is a well-known practice of the Azerbaijani propaganda machine,” the statement read.
Meanwhile, the Artsakh Defense Ministry’s press service urges not to fall for Azerbaijan’s false claims solely aimed at ‘undermining the image of the Armenian soldier’ and wait until the investigation is completed, the results of which will be disclosed to the public.
