Two charged for taking bribes to arrange exemptions and deferments from military service
Armenia’s National Security Service (NSS) has uncovered a scheme of arranging exemptions and deferments from military service in return for bribes during the 2019 summer military conscription.
In an official statement on Thursday, the security service said a citizen, in a prior agreement with a medical facility employee, arranged exemptions or deferments from military service for five conscripts in exchange for $3,000-$8,000 in bribes.
A criminal case has been launched into the scheme.
Both suspects, whose identity are not disclosed by the NSS, have been charged in the case.
A preliminary probe is underway.
