Pashinyan: Government views Armenia as industrial country
Armenia’s Kotayk Province has a great industrial potential, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at the My Step for Kotayk Province business forum taking place in Tsakhkadzor spa town on Saturday.
According to the PM, three towns of the province – Hrazdan, Charentsavan and Abovyan – were once the industrial power of Soviet Armenia and today’s forum is a good chance to emphasize that the government really views Armenia as an industrial country.
“Our actions must be aimed at achieving this very goal,” the PM said in his remarks.
Pashinyan said his government is in constant contact with Armenian manufacturers and one of its priorities is to ensure conditions which will enable the development of industrial competition, ‘an important and delicate’ work the government plans to do in the near future.
“While supporting industry and industrialists, we need to make sure that we actually pursue a policy of reinforcing their institutional capacities, rather than having them just rely on our support, in fact weakening their competitiveness and efficiency," the prime minister stressed.
The PM also highlighted the great tourism potential of the province with Tsaghkadzor being one of Armenia’s most important tourist destinations, and the government stays focused on tourism development across the country.
The Armenian leader said Kotayk Province has also high-tech companies and his government is also pursuing a policy in this regard to help those companies “stand up”.
