Former chairman of Armenia’s State Revenue Committee to be arrested, NSS Chief says
The former Chairman of Armenia’s State Revenue Committee Gagik Khachatryan has not been arrested yet, the Chief od Armenia’s National Security Service (NSS) Artur Vanetsyan told reporters on Monday. In his words, officers of the NSS Investigative committee have been conducting investigative actions in the apartment and other properties of Khachatryan as well as in venues affiliated to Khachatryan.
Vanetsyan said, after the searches are complete, Khachatryan will be taken to NSS, declining to detail the status of the top former official at detention.
“The criminal case was launched regarding embezzlement on an especially large scale and abuse of power that refers to the period of his office. The charges to be brought may be supplemented with other articles,” the NSS Chief stressed, adding the matter refers to embezzlement of ‘millions of dollars.’
Vanetsyan said, Khachatryan had been interrogated at the Investigative department as a witness before the searches.
