FM Mnatsakanyan: Azerbaijan continues posing threat to the security of Artsakh people
The preservation and strengthening of the regional security is a guiding principle for Armenia in its relations with power centers, including in the Nagorno Karabakh peace process, Armenian FM Zohrab Mnatsakanyan stated on Tuesday addressing the meeting of the RA Foreign Ministry's Central Apparatus and Armenian ambassadors stationed abroad.
“The preservation of peace and stability in the region of the Couth Caucasus is in the interest of the peoples of the region. We have witnessed the grave consequences of the collapse of security systems for peoples in neighboring regions, implications for their statehood and economies,” said the minister.
In Mnatsakanyan’s words, the military-political balance is a necessary condition for the peace in the region, and Armenia exerts consistent efforts to maintain that balance.
“Attempts by Azerbaijan to break the military-political balance of the region which are expressed through use of force still pose a threat to the regional security and peace,” Mnatsakanyan noted, adding Armenia advocates for the peaceful settlement of the NK conflict and cannot accept the concealed or explicit threats of using force by Azerbaijan.
“Holding talks in an atmosphere of high tensions obstructs the establishment of environment conductive to peace and thus does not contribute to the comprehensive and lasting solution of the conflict. With its long practiced policy of anti-Armenian hatred Azerbaijan threatens Artsakh people security. There is no alternative to peace. Armenia and Artsakh have enough potential to secure peace,” said Mnatsakanyan.
