845 buses and 101 trolleybuses are to be operated in capital Yerevan next year
Yerevan Mayor met with the representatives of the transport companies of the capital. The issues related to further changes in transport system and the new itinerary network were discussed, the press service at the Yerevan municipality reported.
Mayor Marutyan presented the main changes to be made in the new itinerary network. The unified network will ensure integrated flexible price and ticket system; instead of currently working 111 bus itineraries 42 ones are suggested; the number of transport means will be significantly reduced. 845 buses and 101 trolleybuses are to be operated. The number of buses includes the reserve means which make up 15% of the total number.
In Marutyan’s words, the installation of the new transport system will require at least two-year loan, purchase of a new rolling stock via competition as well as providing of necessary infrastructures. Yerevan Mayor presented some proposals to the transport companies serving the itineraries of the capital. Since next year nearly 400 mini-buses are to be withdrawn from the itinerary network, as their operation time (15 years) has been expired. It is almost half of the total number of minibuses (900).
The companies working now can renovate their rolling stocks and go on serving the existing itineraries as well as purchase new transport means meeting the requirements of the new system and carry on their work.
