Court of Appeals recognizes the violation of rights of ex-President Kocharyan and his son
The Armenian Criminal Court of Appeals under presiding under Judge Mnatsakanyan rejected on Monday the appeal by Prosecutor’s General’s Office against the ruling of a first instance court over the violation of presumption of innocence of Robert Kocharyan.
As the ex-president’s defense team reported, earlier the Chairman of Armenia’s Special Investigative Service Sasun Khachatryan announced the charges to Kocharyan about overthrowing the constitutional order of the country as a proved fact. The Yerevan Court of first instance recognized that Kocharyan’s right for presumption of innocence was violated that was later appealed by the Prosecutor Generals’ office.
With another ruling, the Court of Appeals recognized the violation of the rights of ex-president Kocharyan’s son – Sedrak Kocharyan. The case referred to the press statement released by the National Security Service that reported about the alleged “crimes committed by Kocharyan and his son.”
