Queen always orders same takeaway in Balmoral - and it's not very royal
The Queen orders the same takeaway when she visits her Scottish retreat Balmoral — fish and chips, a royal source claims, The Mirror reports.
Her Majesty heads to Balmoral each summer and it is reported she always orders from local chippies on special occasions.
According to the source, the Queen chooses one of Britain's most favourite dishes each time she places an order, instead of the gourmet dishes you might expect a royal to eat.
Speaking to Fabulous Digital, they said: “She very occasionally treats herself to fish and chips when at Balmoral.
“A footman is despatched to get it from the local town of Ballater.”
Darren McGrady, who was a personal chef to the Queen, told The Telegraph she cannot be described as a “foodie”, unlike her husband Prince Phillip, who "loves to eat and would stand and talk food all day".
But Darren told baking website RecipePlus, Her Majesty is a big fan of chocolate biscuit cake and will go back to it again and again until its gone".
When she is travelling the Queen is known to eat Dundee cake and be particular about the type of water she drinks.
Queen Elizabeth would demand Malvern water was brought on board for use in her tea, claimed author Peter Pigott in his book Royal Transport.
And the Queen isn't the only royal who likes to tuck into a takeaway dish.
Prince William is a big fan of pizza, Chinese and Nandos.
And in an interview with BBC Radio One in 2017 Kate, 37, admitted that she was partial to a curry for dinner.
Meanwhile fellow duchess Meghan Markle admitted she is partial to chips.
