Kocharyan’s son expects justice from Constitutional Court
Levon Kocharyan, the son of Armenia’s second president Robert Kocharyan, expects a fair examination of Kocharyan’s application by the Constitutional Court judges.
“I expect the Constitutional Court judges to implement justice and to not be subjected to pressures which we have witnessed in the recent months,” he told reporters on Tuesday.
Asked to elaborate on the pressures he pointed to, he said: “You all know it very well: starting form the leader of the country to [information] outflows from various places, including a statement made by one of the judges. All this are evidently attempts of pressure on others which started after the Constitutional Court accepted our appeal,” he said.
The Constitutional Court is today set to consider Kocharyan’s application on determining the constitutionality of Articles 35 and 135.2 of the country’s Criminal Procedure Code.
The court hearing was set to start at 11am, but has not begun yet.
Kocharyan is currently in custody pending the outcome of his trial on charges of overthrowing the constitutional order in 2008.
