Constitution court to announce decision on ex-President Kocharyan’s case tomorrow
The Constitutional Court of Armenia will continue the considertion of Armenia’s ex-President Robert Kocharyan’s application on determining the constitutionality of Articles 35 and 135.2 of the country’s Criminal Procedure Code. As the Chief of court staff Edgar Vardanyan told reporters, the court ruling will be announced tomorrow on September 4. In his words, the case is considered through a written procedure that started today at 11:00.
Earlier member of ex-president’s defense team Hayk Alumyan stressed the court was not discussing the release of the ex-president, but rather the compliance of the law applied to Kocharyan with the Constitution, as well as the constitutionality of the law in the light of the interpretations made by the courts of general jurisdiction.
