Kocharyan supporters gather outside Armenia’s highest court
Supporters of Armenia’s second President Robert Kocharyan are staging a protest outside the building of Armenia’s Constitutional Court on Tuesday, with police forces gathered at the courtyard.
The ex-president’s detractors are also staging a separate protest outside the court.
Some of the former president’s supporters have moved to the courtroom.
Armenia’s highest court is today set to consider Kocharyan’s application on determining the constitutionality of Articles 35 and 135.2 of the country’s Criminal Procedure Code.
The application will be examined in a written procedure.
Kocharyan is currently in custody pending the outcome of his trial on charges of overthrowing the constitutional order in 2008.
