Armenia’s consumer prices down 1.2% in August : statistics
Consumer prices for food and non-alcoholic drinks in Armenia dropped by 1.2% in August 2019 compared to July, the National Statistical Service (NSS) told Panorama.am, adding the price cut was mainly prompted by 8.7% and 2.7% deflation in vegetables and fruits prices respectively.
According to the latest figures, in August 2019 the prices for vegetables dropped by 4.3% to compare with August 2018 data 8.7% against July 2019 data.
The Consumer Price Index (CPI) stood at 0.3% in January-August this year from the period in 2018, making up 0.2%.
Consumer prices fell by 0.6-0.3% in all the Armenian cities under study in August compared to July 2019, with the highest price drop rates registered in Gyumri, Vanadzor and Gavar towns. Capital Yerevan saw a decrease of 0.4% in consumer prices in August.
