Sanitek employees protest outside Yerevan Municipality, demand due salaries
Sanitek waste management company’s employees are staging a protest outside the Yerevan Municipality demanding their due salaries.
The protesting employees state the Sanitek management told them the Yerevan Municipality had failed to make any money transfers to the company.
“We have loans at banks. If the city hall refuses to make transfers, let it also have the loan interest rates frozen, when we get a job, we will start making payments. But if we fail to make mortgage payments now, the compulsory enforcers will seize our homes,” one of the protesters complained.
Another Sanitek employee in his 50’s complained that he was looking for a job but would not be hired by any company due to his age.
“If so, people should be set to retire after 50,” he said.
The employees state while their wages are not paid, but Indian and Persian employees are being hired by the company.
The head of the Waste Management and Sanitary Cleaning Community Facility urged protesters to apply to their employer to get their salaries paid. “This is a law-abiding country. Issues are not handled in this way,” he stressed.
