Pashinyan warns against illegal banning of Amulsar mine operation
“There are certain questions regarding Amulsar mine operation we hope to receive after respective examinations by the environmental protection and mining inspection body,” Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan stated on Wednesday at a Q/A session at parliament.
Pashinyan’s comments came at a response of one of the MP’s question whether the government of Armenia goes against the ideas of revolution by refusing to investigate the legality of the Amulsar operation license issued by the previous government.
“My position on Amulsar and other issues is the following: every decision should be first of all legitimate regardless of existing environmental, economic, or other considerations. If we illegally ban the mine operation we may shut down a media illegally tomorrow and a business – the other day. We have definitely no plans to go that way,” the PM said.
