Lawmaker: People can express no-confidence to government over Amulsar
If the authorities’ arguments on the Amulsar gold mining are unacceptable to the residents of Jemuk spa town or the wider circles of society, the issue will be handled easily, ruling My Step faction MP Hovik Aghazaryan told reporters on Wednesday.
The lawmaker said people are free to hold a referendum to express no-confidence to the government, which can be followed by conduct of snap elections if needed.
Aghazaryan stressed he expresses his personal opinion on the matter.
Earlier on 9 September Jermuk hosted an open discussion, with its participants expressing dissatisfaction with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's call for unblocking the roads leading to the gold deposit.
One of the participants said they expect the government to make a clear decision on the matter by 20 September, otherwise they will launch civil disobedience acts.
