Court retires to deliberation room for rendering verdict on Kocharyan’s case
Judge Anna Danibekyan of the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction retired to the Deliberation Room for delivery of the judgment over changing the preventive detention measure against the ex-president Robert Kocharyan.
The court decision will be announced on September 17 at 13:00 Yerevan time.
The relevant motion was filed by Robert Kocharyan’s lawyers to lift the arrest as the preventive detention measure against their defendant.
The filing of the new motion came after the Constitutional Court of Armenia published the decision on determining the constitutionality of two articles of the Armenian Code of Procedural Justice regarding the ex-president’s arrest. The Court cited the constitutional provision of immunity of high-level officials from prosecution in its decision, partly approving the ex-president’s appeal.
