Armenia’s Byurakan Observatory hosts int'l conference on active galaxies and quasars
Armenia’s Byurakan Astrophysical Observatory hosted an international conference on Active Galaxies and Quasars dedicated to Prof. Marat Arakelian’s 90th anniversary on September 9-10.
The conference brought together 22 scholars from 6 countries – Armenia, Georgia, Turkey, Italy, Finland, Kazakhstan, the observatory’s official website reported.
During the conference, the experts delivered a total of 16 reports on the following topics: active galaxies: history of discoveries and investigations; surveys for active galaxies; active galaxies and quasars from IR/submm surveys; active galaxies and quasars from radio/mm surveys; active galaxies and quasars from X-ray/gamma-ray surveys; multiwavelength studies; unification and other models of AGN; study of unique AGN, AGN variability and the phenomena of activity and future large projects.
The event was organized by the Byurakan Observatory, Armenian Astronomical Society (ArAS), Armenian Virtual Observatory (ArVO), IAU South West and Central Asian Regional Office of Astronomy for Development (SWCA ROAD) and the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport.
