Renowned Soviet Armenian artist Levon Manaseryan dies at 94
Prominent Soviet Armenian artist Levon Manaseryan has passed away at the age of 94, the Artists' Union of Armenia revealed.
Born in 1925 in the city of Vagharshapat, he took part in the World War II in 1943-1944. Manaseryan graduated from the Yerevan Fine Arts and Theatre Institute in 1953, when he started taking part in exhibitions. In 1963 the artist started delivering lectures at the Polytechnic Institute of Yerevan, heading the Chair of Drawing in 1975-1991.
Many of Manaseryan’s works are kept at the National Gallery of Armenia. He created mainly graphic works. The artist’s works also include thematic compositions, landscapes, still life paintings, portraits, as well as illustrations of more than 200 books.
The painter’s requiem mass will take place at San Lazaro Funeral Home on Friday, at 6pm, and the funeral ceremony from the same place on Saturday, at 1pm.
