Armenia’s security chief steps down
Artur Vanetsyan has quitted as Director of Armenia’s National Security Service (NSS).
In a statement announcing his resignation, Vanetsyan described his decision as ‘the most preferable and justified option’ to serve Armenia and its people under the current circumstances.
“I made this decision as confident as the one when I agreed to assume the position of the NSS Director at a crucial stage for our country. My activity for one year and a half has always been open to you all, and I have taken every step guided by a single principle: the homeland and the honor of an officer are above everything else,” he said.
Vanetsyan was serving as NSS Director since May 2018.
He is also President of the Football Federation of Armenia.
