Three killed in tragic road accident on Armenian highway
Three people have been killed in a tragic road accident involving a cargo truck and a passenger vehicle in Armenia.
The accident occurred on Yerevan-Meghri highway on Monday, September 16, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported.
Two fire and secure squads of the ministry’s Regional Rescue Department, as well as the department’s operational group, were dispatched to the scene after the emergency responders received a crash report at around 4am.
The crew found out that a Kamaz truck had crashed into a BMW car on the 59th kilometer of the highway. Both vehicles burst into flames after the crash.
The fire was contained at 4:20am and put out at 4:46am.
The fatalities included the driver and two passengers of BMW.
The driver and the only passenger of the truck suffered injuries and were hospitalized at Ararat Medical Center.
The cause of the crash was not immediately clear.
