Queen Elizabeth II shuts Buckingham Palace bar down as staff ‘got too drunk’
The Queen Elizabeth II once had a bar at Buckingham Palace but had to shut it down after staff got too 'worse for wear,' it is claimed, local sources report. A four-part series – Secrets Of The Royal Palaces – is due to be shown later this month on Channel 5 and the first episode focuses on Buckingham Palace.
Dickie Arbiter, former press officer to the Queen, reportedly told the show there used to be a bar in the Palace but it was closed after some members of staff were too often "worse for wear".
"They had to get rid," he claimed, according to the Daily Star. The show also reportedly reveals that upmarket bank Coutts, favored by the royals, has installed an ATM at Buckingham Palace.
It is unclear if the Queen has ever used it herself.
