Armenian defense minister refutes rumors about his possible resignation
Armenian Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan on Wednesday dismissed rumors that he is going to submit resignation.
“There is no such thing,” he told reporters in the National Assembly.
The defense minister said he has never discussed the matter with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
Tonoyan also ruled out disagreements with the prime minister over any issue, adding as a government member he is engaged in very synchronized work.
Asked to comment on the resignation of National Security Service Director Artur Vanetsyan, the minister said he cannot make any comments since it was a personal decision. He also refrained from commenting on the content of Vanetsyan’s resignation statement “It is for him to make any comments. I believe Vanetsyan will make them in due time,” he said.
Asked whether the security chief’s resignation stemmed from disagreements, the minister said: “I believe there is no resignation without a reason.”
Tonoyan assured he is not aware of any disagreements between Vanetsyan and Pashinyan.
