Environmental lawyer insists fight against Amulsar mine operation aims to help government
Environmental lawyer Nazeli Vardanyan insists all the permits for the operation of the Amulsar gold mine have been issued in a gross violation of the law.
In a video on Facebook, Vardanyan stressed the Amulsar mine controversy should be settled in accordance with the law.
“For years, both Jermuk residents, environmentalists and specialists have fought against the exploitation of the mine, no matter who was in power. It has never been a political struggle, it has been an environmental, legal and professional struggle,” the expert said.
According to the environmental lawyer, their struggle is aimed at helping the government find the right solution.
“We all have been revolution makers believing that we will have a rule of law country where everyone is equal before the law. The revolution has been anchored on these ideas. Today as well this movement is to help the government make the right decision and not be discredited by making wrong decisions,” she said.
Environmental lawyer insists the exploitation of the Amulsar gold mine will have irreversible impacts.
“I hope our struggle will be fruitful,” she said.
