Putin, Trump send greetings on Armenia’s Independence Day
Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent greetings to President of Armenia Armen Sarkissian and the country’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Armenia's national holiday, Independence Day.
According to the Kremlin report, in his messages, Putin noted with satisfaction that the Russian-Armenian relations are based on friendship and alliance, as well as centuries-long traditions of spiritual affinity and mutual respect.
Vladimir Putin expressed confidence in further development of efficient cooperation between Russia and Armenia in political, trade and economic, humanitarian and other spheres, as well as in boosting their partnership in the Eurasian integration in the interests of the two countries' brotherly peoples and in order to ensure security and stability in the South Caucasus region.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received also a congratulatory message from US President Donald Trump on Independence Day.
In President Trump’s words Washington supports the desire of the Armenian people to live in a democratic country free from corruption which respects the rule of law as reflected during peaceful movement across Armenia.
The US President next welcomed the PM’s personal involvement to find a lasting and peaceful resolution to the Nagorno Karabakh conflict under the auspices of the Co-Chairs, adding the United States look forward to further strengthening the partnership between the two countries in the coming years.
