George Soros, the founder of Open Society Foundations, had expressed a desire to meet with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan before the latter was to about leave for the World Economic Forum in Davos in January, the PM revealed.

At a news conference in Los Angeles, the Armenian leader said he had to reject Soros’ offer due to his heavy workload.

The PM’s remarks came in response to a question about whether he has ever met with Soros and how he would comment on the talk alleging that he is connected to Soros.

Speaking about the success of the ‘velvet revolution’, Pashinyan put forward two hypotheses. He said the authors of the conspiracy theory say it was planned where the famous revolutions are usually planned.

“And where revolutions are planned, they are in no less suspicion and suffering because they wonder, ‘If we didn’t make this revolution, then who dared to make a revolution without our permission?’

“So, I ask all parties to calm down because those who have been in the Republic of Armenia, instead of sitting in their offices, know who has made the revolution and how. The revolution has been broadcast live, and this story has not just started, it has a long history. You all witnessed it,” he said.

Pashinyan stressed it is the Armenian people who made the revolution and any attempt to ascribe the revolution to others is disrespect to the people.

“Those who want to draw Soros or something else into it, simply want to insult the dignity of the Armenian people,” he said. “The Armenian people have already thrown those people into the garbage dump of history. I advise them to enjoy the place they have ended up as a result of the restoration the historical justice.”
