UN summit: Trump says future belongs to patriots not globalists
U.S. President Trump called on world leaders gathered at the United Nations General Assembly to embrace nationalism in their own countries and respect the culture and heritage of others. In his remarks Tuesday in New York City, Trump slammed "globalists" who aim to deconstruct national boundaries.
"If you want freedom, take pride in your country. If you want democracy, hold onto your sovereignty. And if you want peace, love your nation," Trump said.
"Wise leaders always put the good of their own people and their own country first," he said. "The future does not belong to globalists. The future belongs to patriots. The future belongs to sovereign and independent nations who protect their citizens, respect their neighbors, and honor the differences that make each country special and unique."
