Armenian, Tunisian FMs meet in New York to discuss bilateral cooperation
Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan held a meeting with his Tunisian counterpart Khemaies Jhinaoui on the sidelines of his working visit to New York on Tuesday.
During the meeting, the foreign ministers discussed a wide range of issues relating to the bilateral cooperation, reaffirming their readiness to jointly contribute to the expansion and strengthening of the existing agenda. In this regard, they stressed the need to expand the bilateral legal framework and to arrange regular political consultations between the two foreign ministers.
The officials reflected on the activity of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF) as an effective platform ensuring cooperation between the states sharing the Francophonie values, exchanging views on the preparations for next year's summit to be held in Tunisia, the Armenian Foreign Ministry said in a press release.
Mnatsakanyan said as a chairing country of La Francophonie Summit, Armenia attaches great importance to the OIF’s close cooperation with international and regional organizations such as the UN, UNESCO and Council of Europe.
The Armenian foreign policy chief presented his Tunisian counterpart the country’s achievements in IT, smart development, creative education and innovation, highlighting the implementation of programs involving direct stakeholders to fully tap the partnership potential in those areas.
Zohrab Mnatsakanyan and Khemaies Jhinaoui expressed satisfaction with the effective cooperation and mutual support in international and regional structures.
