Electricity generation drops in Armenia in seven months
A total of 4 billion 302.4 million kilowatt-hours of electricity were generated in Armenia in the first seven months of 2019, down by 5% from the same period of 2018, Armenia's National Statistical Committee revealed.
According to the latest figures, electricity generation at thermal power plants dropped by 19.5% to 1 billion 508.2 million kilowatt-hours in January-July. Some 16.6 thousand gigajoules of thermal energy were produced in the country in seven months, a decrease of 33.3% from 2018.
Meantime, power generation at hydropower plants increased by 5% to 1 billion 581.2 million kWh in the reporting period.
In January-July 2019, Armenia’s Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) generated 1 billion 203.5 million kilowatt-hours of electricity, a rise of 5.2% against the same months of 2018.
Electricity generation at solar power plants stood at 7.5 million kWh in the first seven months of this year, securing a 3-fold growth from the same period last year.
