European Heritage Days open in Armenia
Official opening ceremony of European Heritage Days was held in Armenia on Saturday at “Amberd fortress” historical and cultural museum-reservation. The event was organized by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Armenia and the Delegation of the European Union to Armenia.
As the EU Delegation in Armenia reported in a press statement, the official opening was announced by Mr. Arayik Harutyunyan, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport and H.E. Andrea Wiktorin, Ambassador, Head of the European Union Delegation to Armenia.
“Armenia is a member of the European cultural family, one of the 50 countries participating in the European Heritage Days. The theme of this year is ‘Arts and Entertainment” which gives the opportunity to present our diverse culture in its full beauty. It is a great opportunity to communicate, to discover our cultural heritage in a new way, to evaluate and spread it via various events”, stressed Mr. Arayik Harutyunyan, ESCS Minister.
“The European Heritage Days are a great opportunity for all of us to be reminded about the cultural heritage left by our ancestors. We all should value this heritage and conserve it for the future generations", noted Andrea Wiktorin, Ambassador, Head of the European Union Delegation to Armenia.
The king, courtiers and heralds, mimes and clowns etc.- for a few hours the territory of Amberd fortress transformed into a festive platform representing the past and the present of Armenian cultural heritage, arts and entertainment. The guests, among which were groups of schoolchildren from Aragatsotn marz, had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with different spheres of Armenian culture represented in pavilions and to have personal participation in the creation of a huge canvas showing the idea of the event.
Estonian chamber choir "Flora" from Tallinn was also at Amberd today and made a beautiful impromptu performance during the European Heritage Days celebration.
It is reminded that this year the theme of the European Heritage Days is “Arts and Entertainment” On September 28 and 29, various cultural events, concerts, video shows, marches, literature and music events, educational, interactive programmes, etc. will be organized in the territory of more than 100 cultural organizations of Armenia.
