Armenia’s deputy PM assures gas prices won’t rise from Jan. 1
Armenia’s Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan is convinced Russian natural gas prices will not rise from January 1, 2020.
“I do not think and I can even say I am convinced that we will not have a situation when we would have to hold a debate in December and announce that from January 1 the gas tariffs will increase,” the deputy prime minister said at the National Assembly on Wednesday, responding to a question by opposition MP Sergey Bagratyan.
He noted that irrespective of any arrangements reached they will not be subject to implementation from the very next day or month.
“I can assure you that the negotiations are being held in constructive atmosphere and there is no symptom indicating that time is simply passing and gas prices will change dramatically,” he said.
Mher Grigoryan also ruled out a possible gas price rise in winter months.
“There is a mutual understanding that such a thing cannot be allowed,” he said.
