Tsarukyan: It’s not for parliament to decide whether Constitutional Court head should stay or resign
It is not for the Armenian parliament to decide whether Constitutional Court Chairman Hrayr Tovmasyan should remain in office or resign, head of the Prosperous Armenia’s (BHK) parliamentary faction Gagik Tsarukyan told reporters in the National Assembly on Wednesday.
“During the previous sitting, we voted against Hrayr Tovmasyan, while the arguments presented today are very weak, the key provisions are flawed and there are deadline breaches,” he said.
“In addition, I want to tell everyone that it is not for the parliament to decide whether Hrayr Tovmasyan should stay or resign, the Constitutional Court is the one to make a decision. That’s why we in our faction have decided not to take part in the voting,” Tsarukyan said.
The BHK leader refuted media reports alleging he has discussed the matter with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
“We often meet with Mr. Pashinyan, but we mainly discuss issues related to investments. We have never met for political issues and we have not discussed that matter, we have only discussed investment and economic development issues,” he said.
