Armenia parliament OKs raising minimum salary to 68,000 drams
The Armenian National Assembly adopted in the first reading on Thursday a bill to increase the minimum salary in Armenia by around 24% from 55,000 drams to 68,000 drams.
The bill was adopted by a vote of 102 for and only one against.
The draft law was first approved by the government in June.
The measure is expected to apply to total of 45,000 private sector employees and 35,000 public sector employees.
Separately, lawmakers adopted in the second reading a bill on lotteries authored by Alain Simonyan, Sipan Pashinyan and Naira Zohrabyan by a vote of 93 for, 1 against and 1 abstention.
A bill on making amendments and addenda to the Labor Code of Armenia, co-authored by deputies Narek Zeynalyan, Heriknaz Tigranyan and Lusine Badalyan, also passed the second parliamentary reading.
Lawmakers voted 71 to 4 to adopt in the first reading a bill on amending the law “On State Property Privatization Program for 2017-2020" authored by MP Narek Zeynalyan. 22 lawmakers abstained from voting.
Draft laws on funded pension, customs service and accounting also passed the parliamentary readings.
