Soldiers who foiled Azerbaijani subversive attack, downed drone meet with Artsakh president
Four of the servicemen who foiled an Azerbaijani subversive attack and downed a drone on Thursday met with Artsakh Republic President Bako Sahakyan.
Earlier on Tuesday, Sahakyan signed decrees to award Armen Babayan and Emil Nersisyan with the “For Service in Battle” medal for personal bravery and courage shown during rebuffing the subversive-reconnoitering activities of Azerbaijan.
For shooting down an Azerbaijani drone, Defence Army servicemen Paruyr Amirkhanyan and Rafik Ordoyan were awarded with the “For Service in Battle” medal.
Azerbaijani forces attempted a subversive attack on the Artsakh frontline on 22 September, targeting a south-eastern military post.
In an official statement the Artsakh Defense Ministry said the Azerbaijani subversive group left behind one body in the no-man’s land after being repelled by the Artsakh frontline troops. Later it was revealed that another Azerbaijani soldier having been seriously injured during the failed incursion also died.
“The Defense Army suffered no losses,” the ministry said.
Three days later on 25 September the air defense units of the Artsakh army downed Azerbaijan’s Orbiter 2 unmanned aerial vehicle carrying out a reconnaissance flight.
