Armenian MP slams Aliyev’s latest Artsakh remarks
The latest remarks of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev about Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) once again comes to show that unlike Armenia Azerbaijan does not pursue a constructive position and, in essence, does not want a peaceful resolution of the conflict, Armenian MP Ruben Rubinyan told reporters at the parliament on Friday.
His comments came in response to the Azerbaijani president’s remarks made at the Valdai Club forum in Sochi that “Nagorno-Karabakh is Azerbaijan and exclamation point; there is no such thing as people of Nagorno-Karabagh.”
Aliyev was responding to Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s statement made in Stepanakert that Artsakh is an integral part of Armenia.
Rubinyan, who also heads the parliamentary Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, stressed Aliyev’s remarks prove Azerbaijan does not accept the only available formula on the conflict settlement and continues its bellicose rhetoric.
“Our Foreign Ministry has already stressed that Armenia sees the conflict settlement within the logic presented by the prime minister from the UN floor,” he said.
